Small Churches always feel threatened by big Churches to the extent that they feel that most big Churches don't preach or teach the true word of God. Small Churches think big Churches only preach prosperity. The small ones are always perplexed about growth and are quick to discredit the big Churches.
What makes one Church grow faster than others even though they preach the same doctrine? I am not talking about false teachers and prophets. That will be another topic.
There are principles to learn from Jesus on how to do ministry in three years and still have a global impact through missions.
Small Churches feel it is alright to struggle with little things and that lack of resources to bring about expansion is a sign that God is with them. The big Churches keep getting bigger while the small ones keep getting smaller. You might say there is no need to compare numbers when it comes to Churches but deep down you want your small Church to grow into a big Church.
The difference is that the small Churches try and after a while they lose steam and become complacent. They look back and they have this feeling of self-satisfaction for having tried to get to where they are. At that point, the little progress made starts declining and one by one the members will lose steam and leave to join the big thriving Churches.
The fact that a Church is big does not mean that they do not preach salvation or they are perfect. They are simply dynamic and do not relent on past successes. They press on toward the goal. They double their effort at reaching out to more people with the word of God. They know that keeping the same set of people without new ones only breeds stagnancy.
There are a lot of people out there who need God. These people have real issues that some Churches fail to teach in ways that can ease their understanding and lighten their burdens . I mean practical application of the word versus theory can sometimes be key in capturing the attention of new converts. I do not mean staged miracles.
Some Churches spend money on making members comfortable in a very cool and cozy atmosphere. Some have the rugged infrastructure and are still doing fine. God wants all these Churches to grow. There are still a lot of people who have not experienced the power of God and who are unchurched.
All Churches can grow in leaps and bounds. I remember Peter preached one day and three thousand people believed in Christ. Never underestimate the power of God to save whether people are many or few.
If you are in a small Church then enlarge your mind and vision and you will enlarge your tents. Isaiah 54:2,3
I believe there is a Great Church in Heaven.
